The butt grip is bored out to accept&nbsp;lead tape wrapped around the blank. &nbsp;Rod bond fills the remaining void and is mixed with cork dust at the end of the grip to help hide the glue line.
The stainless T-nut is fitted inside of a reel seat arbor and glued into the butt of the blank. &nbsp;Finally a set of stainless washers and a 1/4-20 bold round out the balancer. &nbsp;The washers can be replaced with a crude lead spacer made boring out a piced of wood and pouring lead.
Once the angler is satisfied with the balance, the butt cap can be glued in place. &nbsp;The benefit to this design is that it offers a way to balance the rod without adding to the length of the butt grip, and the majority of the weight can be easily removed and replaced with a lightweight shim, if desired.
