A simple way to keep "dust bunnies" from landing on your decorative wrap. I cut sections of a "pool noodle" that kids use in swimming pools for flotation. Bore the center hole to 1 1/8" using a forstner bit in my drill press for the grip foam section. I build up the blank on the tip-side of the wrap using vinyl tape for the blank foam section. Use a length of plastic wrap approx. 18" long and use straight pins to hold it in place. I apply finish, then stop rotation and use the 180 degree flip method for leveling the finish. Once I've wicked away the excess finish, I then tack the plastic wrap on using straight pins directly accross from each other and carefully rotate the foam noodles around the stationary rod while adding more pins to hold it in place. Once a full "dust shield" is employed, I continue with my 180 degree "flipping" for leveling - or run the rod on slow rotation drying motor.
