Update on this rod. I ended up buying a JDM SLX BFS reel...very affordable considering the current exchange rate. Have been bass fishing as much as I can with the setup, mostly Ned rigs with a 1/16th ounce jig + 2.5 inch Zman plastic and it absolutely bombs those out of the box. Took it out a few minutes ago to see if it will be enough to take to Bend and do some Trout fishing. Nearly emptied the spool with a an easy cast and 4 gram ultra light Rapala Minnow. Makes me want to do a 6 ft version for my mountain streams, just think the tip isn't quite light enough for that. Re: All Purpose Fast Glass

Thanks for the update. Nice to see it casting those weights with some backbone. I agree a bit shorter would be nice for small streams. I just took 6” off a couple popping blanks and it didn’t change it too much. I don’t think I would take a foot ;) Re: All Purpose Fast Glass

If you CC your blank than 6 inches further up you'd know the difference it would make. You can do the same to check action change after shortening a blank tip. Re: All Purpose Fast Glass

There are a lot of options out there, NFC, AT Matrix, Rainshadow RX6 and Revelation. The Rainshadow RX6 are very reasonably priced. They also have a number of travel and 2 piece rods. I haven’t built on any NFC UL or L, so I can’t comment. Until recently I only fished trout with Fly rods, but have been branching out to spin and cast as my wife has been going with me more. I've thought about the Revelation 54UL, supposed to be fast action and I'd about the right length. Surprisingly cheap as well, considering NFC's non sale prices and AT prices.
