I would never publish anything in the magazine that I didn't try first, and make sure the information presented was accurate. I don't just publish things because somebody sent it to me. On the rare occasion when I publish something that is theoretical, I state such. All the CCS articles were between 1 and 2 years in the making and testing phase before I published the first one.
It's been 18 years since we published the CCF article and my notes would be closer to 19 or 20 years old, if I could even find them. But I seem recall changing a set of guides on a 7-1/2 popping rod from SS SIC to Titanium SIC and there was a difference of less than 2%, across several tries. Of course, the longer the rod is the greater the difference that would be expected. In the hundreds of rods I tested in various ways, I never found a rod with a lower CCF number that possessed a higher rod speed than a rod with a higher CCF number. Nor have I ever found another rod builder who actually used the CCF to find any different. ........... Re: CCS, I'm all in! How do you set up your lab?

Thanks, appreciate the detail, Tom.
TNF shows a much larger difference on a XF ERN 17 , 7 foot 2 inch premium blank. Re: CCS, I'm all in! How do you set up your lab?

I can believe that, although the main thing is that there is a difference. At that time the guides would almost certainly have been SVSG and TSVSG.
If you'd like to write up your process for the magazine I'll be happy to publish it (most RodMaker readers are not on this forum). That will give the readers at least two methods to use if they wish. ............. Re: CCS, I'm all in! How do you set up your lab?

Thanks, Tom, I'll give it a shot. Might take a while, gotta get some fishing in, too. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
