I know that quite a few years ago there were some posts about using "Max Seal" from Polymer Composites Inc. as a color preserver. I was wondering if anyone here is still using it and what your experiences with it have been like.

I think you have to be more specific about what product you are proposing. I did a search for Max Seal and don't know what product you are proposing. I always am in favor of using products specifically developed/designed for a specific purpose, so I'll go with the usual CP products every time rather than trying something designed to do something else.

Seems to me Ken Preston used the peoduct as a color preserver. It is available online at "the epoxy experts" or on @#$%&.

I agree with Michael. While I am very guilty of always trying to “build a better mousetrap”, I also realize when it is better to accept the status quo, in this case products specifically designed and formulated for one purpose. I can control each step while fabricating a new design or redesigning a current product. But I have NO control over (or clue) what goes into the formulation of CP or the product you suggest. While it may appear fine-and-dandy initially, what about 5 years from now? Maybe only 1 year from now? Who knows, maybe after the first time it gets wet? In this scenario, I’d rather “be safe than sorry”. “The profit is not worth the risk”. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. But then to be fair, I suppose to be fair, “nothing ventured, nothing gained”. It’s your choice.
