How thick: Carbon Fiber tubing for Tennessee Handle (Ultralight) 1mm or 0.5mm?

I am looking at getting some carbon fiber tubing to try out for tennessee handle for ultralight rods. I am thinking of 23mm diameter and can get the wall thickness in either 0.5mm or 1.0mm. This is for ultralight using 2-4 lbs test so I don't anticipate high stress. Can you get by with 0.5mm or would 1mm be necessary?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Mo...I was just looking at what Ive been working with and it looks to be 1/32 of an inch. Thats right in between .5mm and 1.mm.
I think .5mm would be fine.

I agree, if it was a heavy power rod in a rod holder, or some kind of eqivilent I might be leaning toward the 1.0 mm tube.

Mo,
The .5mm wall CF tube should be fine for an UL, especially if using a full-length foam bushing. I think you may be able to just have 1in bushings at either end but check the compressive “squish” factor first.
Are you using slip-rings or just taping the reel to the TH? If using slip-rings, you will need to concern yourself with 3 issues; 1. Make certain they are tapered or swagged to fit the reel feet, 2. Check the ID of the rings BEFORE ordering the compatible size CF tubing, 3. Make certain to check how well the rings secure the reel to the hard surface of the TH BEFORE gluing everything up. My cork or birch bark THs work great with proper slip-ring (no slippage) but I have NOT tried them on a hard CF surface (slippage?).

Thanks all for the replies.

Mark, I just tape the reels instead of slip rings. :)
