I have a question about a G2 Carbon Handle 12" Full Length Casting Grip...this grip was chosen by a customer....I am fairly new to the rod building obsessive behavior and this is the first full length carbon handle I have installed.....am I assuming correctly this grip has arbors on both ends and only the ends need Pro Paste or should I apply Pro Paste to the blank for the full length of the 12 inch grip????? or does it matter???? I watched a video with Don Morse and he only applied glue to the ends of the grip.....would that be correct???? Thanks in advance for any response. Re: Question about G2 Full Length Casting Grip

It depends on if the carbon grip is a tube sort and supported by bushings or is a skin over a hard foam core. Also something I see a lot is people asking if carbon grips are lighter than cork. It all depends on what the core of the grip is made from. 95% of the weight is in the core. Re: Question about G2 Full Length Casting Grip

G2 carbon full lengths have built in foam cores. Ream and install same as you would a cork handle. Glue where contact is made. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/24/2022 11:45AM by Aaron Petersen. Re: Question about G2 Full Length Casting Grip

I did one of these recently, on a 7'6" casting rod. I like it, slings the lures. As mentioned, there are approx 1/2 inch arbors at both ends. I reamed it to fit, put epoxy at the butt, slid the grip down a little further, put epoxy on the front arbor, slid it up, twisted it some, and worked well. Not sure how you would get it over a tape arbor in the middle, unless you reamed out the bottom arbor to fit over it, then of course, the fit wouldn't be to hot at the butt. I second what Don has said! Here is the video we did about the install of the G2 full length handle. [www.youtube.com] Re: Question about G2 Full Length Casting Grip

I have used several and Don has again proven correct! I have only had to epoxy the ends and have had no failures! Re: Question about G2 Full Length Casting Grip

Not to highjack but it is a question related to the G2 full length handle. Can this be cut down? How? A word you have used in your post has been banned from use. Please use a different word or contact the forum administrators.
