Balsa crankbaits

Looking for casting build blank recommendations for throwing balsa baits. I’m not concerned with casting small Shad raps more so your 1/4oz flat sides around different types of cover. My initial thoughts are mhx843cb bushido crank/popping 72M. Also looking at factory rods as I’m not sure I’ll have the time any time soon.

St Croix PC70MM for a store bought stick. They have others in mod medium if you want to spend more.

Of my casting rods, my favorite is probably one I built on the St. Croix SCV72MM. It has Torzite guides and CFX grips. It handles balsa crankbaits almost magically.

For a blank, try the rodgeeks b2 or b4 73MM.

St Croix material

REVCB70m is what I use for the small stuff especially the strike king 1.0. Is a great blank and I have boat flipped fished up to 5lbs..... would flip larger but I only run 10lb test on that setup.

Which ever of the options you choose, a custom built, moderate action, graphite, cranking rod in this weight range is a wonderful thing. The lightness, casting distance, and blend of sensitivity and progressive flex is just really fun. Balsa crankbaits are really fun. I am prone to fishing this combination longer than other patterns when the bite isn’t happening.

Well I went off the beaten path and just ordered the rodgeeks glass 7mm. If I like it I’ll build another
