I am building a 12'3" surf rod. Its an American Tackle Atrex blank paired with a Shimano Saragosa 14000 (spool diameter 68mm). I am going all American Tackle on this one so am using the MW50 microwave guide set that has a 50/30 stripper guide, a 16mm transition guide and 12mm single foot runners. I assume the runners will be located using static guide test, but how do i choose the preliminary location of the 50/30 and the 16mm? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/29/2021 02:19PM by Bob Ginther. Good afternoon Bob,
Because of the wide range of blanks, handle lengths and reels that will be used with the MW50 guides we have a range for the 3 guides closest to the reel (place in the middle, test cast and adjust as needed) From the reel spool lip fully extended- Stripper - 28-32" Transition - 45-48" Running Guide - 55-59" Please let me know if you need more information. _______________________________ God Bless, Don Morse 800-516-1750 ext. 1207 / don@americantackle.us Rod Building..... Don, what tip top guide do I use for the Mw50 12mm single foot runner guides? I have a 12 mm tiptop (not MW50) but it sits much lower to the blank than the runners. Looks weird. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
