I have a customer who wants a euro-nymphing rod at 8 or 8'6" Has anyone seen something like that in the wild? My suppliers don't have anything. Thanks in advance for the input. Re: Shorter Euro Nymph blank?

Marco,
Customers generally buy a CTS 10'0" or 11'0" stock Affinity-X for that technique. You just need a fly blank with a soft enough tip to "flip" a line/leader where he wants it. Now - a shorter blank will feel more powerful for a given line weight. So, you'll have to be very careful which blank you will purchase. I assume he wants a #2 or #3 blank. What's his budget for the blank. CTS will build him a blank with a -1 tip section. i.e. a #2 blank with a #1 tip section. Herb CTS Rep Edited 1 time(s). Sounds great. This is custom so they don't mind spending a bit. Let me know the cost and I will price it to the customer.
Thanks, Marco Re: Shorter Euro Nymph blank?

Marco,
Will do. Less ferrules will be less expensive. How many sections will he want? Herb Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/22/2021 06:18PM by Herb Ladenheim. Re: Shorter Euro Nymph blank?

I think we should go with 4. This will be for remote areas and portability is a plus. Maybe look at pricing 3 sections as well so I can offer options in case 4 gets into Monopoly money?
Thank you for your quick response, much appreciated. Re: Shorter Euro Nymph blank?

Euro nymphing is done with a long rod! This is because you hold the line off the water as it drifts. The cast is more of a overhand lob, not loading the rod much at all. The longer rod also gives you more "reach" for fishing the pocket water. In essence, that is a very short rod to attempt euro nymphing! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
