Recently I has a request to wrap guides on a build in Florida Gators Blue and Orange. From what I have found out on line the Pantone for the blue is PMS287C and the Orange is 172. What I can't seem to find is a crossover with those colors from either Pro Wrap, Fishhawk, or Fuji.
Surly there are some of you guys down South that have built a rod on that theme. If you would please share your thoughts on what is a good match to the Pantone it would be greatly appreciated. Tom Re: Florida Gators colors

I built a Gators rod with a blue CRB color series blank and a metallic orange thread. I think it was tangerine CP thread. The orange color was nowhere close to Gator orange once I applied the epoxy. Probably should have under wrapped or painted under the tangerine. Turned out nice, but definitely not Florida gator color. Re: Florida Gators colors

I think you'll like whatever orange you choose in an NCP type variety. The Gator orange is opaque so NCP is the way to go, once you figure out the right shade.

This post deals with it, but it's a little dated. I would certainly call Mudhole with this question. I agree with Tom about NCP. [www.rodbuilding.org] Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/03/2021 05:56PM by Lynn Behler. Re: Florida Gators colors

Fuji 501 NOCP and Fuji Dark Blue (008) ULTRA wrapped over a base of highly reflective silver automotive pinstripe material. Pops like it's on TV (even tho it's been used for years). I have no idea why the pic is wonky but the colors are there. Go Gators! Class of '75. Re: Florida Gators colors

Sunshine bumps it up way more. I use the silver pinstripe on a lot of ULTRA colors, especially lighter ones that I know will die against a black blank. It's faster than painting white and far more reflective than a metallic underwrap - and the stuff sticks like crazy. Re: Florida Gators colors
