Recently came into possession of a Cabela's Predator 11 ft 2 1/4 lb. rod that I wanna tear down and rebuild using the Fuji KR System of guides.
Anyone know what range of lure weights are appropriate for this rod? Thnx, Take care Re: Cabela's Predator spinning rod recommended lure weights?

Have you asked Cabelas? Re: Cabela's Predator spinning rod recommended lure weights?

They were discontinued a number of years ago, I m guessing maybe 10 or so years. They were really great rods for the money, real work horses. If I remember correctly they were rated up to 2.5 oz. they were quite popular down here for spillway striper fishing, I modified quite a number of them over the years. A KR layout would be a great improvement over the cheap guides originally used. If you ever need an extra tip section let me know, it been sitting in my shop for quite a while.

Been a while since I fished one of those, I prefer the lighter powered versions. I believe they rated them 1 to 4 oz. But like Norman, I think anything over 3 oz. was pushing it. Re: Cabela's Predator spinning rod recommended lure weights?

Thanx fer the info, fellas. And thank you Norm for the kind offer and the excellent advice you gave me on reel seats.
Re the reel seats; kinda went off the rails with that one -- just got tired of my indecisive-ness and went with an Alps MVT. Just spent what seemed like hours, reading thread after thread, amazingly educational & entertaining, tryin to figure out whether spinning guides should be mounted on the inside curve or the outside curve (straightest axis method) as I'm gettin ready to glue-up the handle wanted to make sure I get the reel seat positioned correctly. Finally came to the conclusion that, like most things, I'm over-thinkin it -- flipped a coin and went for tip up. Thanx again and take care Roger Edited 1 time(s).
