Weighted Fighting Butts

Here is an insight into an American Tackle product that seems simple but can make all the difference when balancing the perfect custom rod.

The American Tackle aluminum fighting butt with EVA cap is a great addition to any custom rod; however with the additional 1/2oz aluminum rings; weight added to the end of the rod can help balance a rod better to reduce arm fatigue throughout the day and help anglers when casting.

Many bass anglers choose this fighting butt when having a custom flipping rod built. This gives anglers the ability to balance out punching or flipping big weights which helps increase casting accuracy and performance on the water.

For the past 30 yrs i've been balancing rods by not putting on the butt cap until the rod was finished. once complete with reel on the rod I would cut pieces of pencil weight and epoxy the weight into the butt of the rod and install the butt cap. Works perfectly while also acting as the blanks plug.

Fishing is not a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that
