I've been using G4 epoxy. I went to order more and there is an option for high or low build. I assume I've been using high because it doesn't say on the bottle. Can anyone tell me what the difference is? Thanks. Re: G4 Epoxy high vs low build

Pretty self explanatory, high build will apply thick, or thin depending on how you apply it, low build only goes on one way. Re: G4 Epoxy high vs low build

I guess a better question would be what application would I use the low build for. I understand the difference between the two viscosities. Re: G4 Epoxy high vs low build

Normally, a low build epoxy tends to run a bit. So, if you have an upside down vertical application for gluing, it might not be the best choice. Or, if you have a loose fitting joint, then the low viscosity is not the best choice.
Conversely, on a tight well fitting joint, a high viscosity glue is not the best choice. Etc. etc. Good luck Re: G4 Epoxy high vs low build

Roger, he is talking G4 Rod finish, not epoxy glue Re: G4 Epoxy high vs low build

I use the regular viscosity G4, also tried a sample of the low viscosity stuff. It is lower viscosity, but really not that much in my opinion. I'd stick with the regular if you are getting good results. Re: G4 Epoxy high vs low build

Thanks fellas. I bought the regular. Just thought I'd see what application I would use the low for. Re: G4 Epoxy high vs low build

Have been using both - been trying the low build for first coats on guide wraps or as the first coat on the top layer of a tiger (used the regular on 2 coats of the lower tiger layer to get more optical seperation).
I’m finding the low build seems to produce more bubbles that surface after application while the rod is on the dryer. Haven’t fully isolated the variable yet but seems to be the case for some reason. Re: G4 Epoxy high vs low build

Michael, the low build soaks into the wrap quicker and bubbles are the air being displaced by the epoxy..CP does the same thing only quicker and at less weight and less cost than epoxy.. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
