Fuji KR Concept (Running guide spacing question)

Halfway through my build and I have the setup from the KR placement. Reduction train looks and functions perfectly. Before I wrap my running guides I want to make sure one thing is correct.

***Should the distance between my running guides be longer than the distance from my 3rd stripper to the choke guide?

The distance from my 3rd stripper to the choke guide (6H - 5KB) is 4.59". If I run a total of 7 guides (20H, 10H, 6H, 5KB, 5KT, 5KT, 5KT; 5 tip top) the distance between my runners (5KB - 5KT's) evens out to over 6". Not sure if this is correct or if I have to add another 5KT to balance things out. It will still be longer but not look as spaced out.

***Should I have 8 guides on a 6'6 rod?

Thanks

In my opinion NO. I like a more progressive spacing, where the guides are closer in the tip further apart in the butt. I always use at least one more runner than the KR- GPS suggests. By doing so you will get a more progressive spacing that looks better and works better, it will also give you a better static test. The position of the choke guide can be moved in or out a little to get the spacing you like. The GPS numbers are a suggestion, and give a good starting point, but are not written in stone.
Norm
PS - why did you use a 6H rather than the suggested 5.5M? I could see using a 6M but not a 6H.

Thanks. I will add one and adjust accordingly. I can't wait to get this done!

I double checked and I am using a 6L not a 6H.

A 6L will work fine.

KR spacing software locates the reduction train and choke guide very well, the rest are located by a stress test. I, like Norman, usually use one more guide than the software recommends, and more than that are not necessary for any reason I can think of. I don't worry about the stress test-defined spacing being progressive, but it usually, but not always, is.

.The software calls for non progressive spacing in the reduction train, and it is set up due to the geometry of the guides. Don't worry about it-it works.
