I have been making rod tubes from wood and PVC for a while now. I would like to find a way to cover some of them with Cordura like some of the commercial rod tubes. Has anyone ever worked with Cordura to make the tube covers? I seem to remember several years back seeing an advertisement for just the covers that could then be stretched over the tube, but Google hasn't yielded any results so far.
Thanks. Re: Cordura Rod Tube

Cordura does not stretch !! I do not know how they do it, but the cordura covered tubes I purchase have it very tight to the pvc tube. Re: Cordura Rod Tube

Perhaps the Cordura is glued to the tube rather than stretched. I recently finished a 9 ft 4-piece fly rod and was thinking how best to make a tube. But I would up purchasing a Reddington fly rod tube for $24 with Cordura outer. While I am a DIYer at heart, at that price it is hard to beat and I would rather use my time making rods. Or fishing. Good luck to you! Re: Cordura Rod Tube

Is it possible that it’s applied wet? Might be more supple that way and shrink tight when dry.

I still have a few of those cordura tube covers. They really don’t stretch. You insert the correct size PVC tube. It’s snug but still slightly movable. Probably easier to buy pre made Re: Cordura Rod Tube

one possibility is the use of comressed air through some rube goldberg setup.i have seen that done somewhere, just don't remember where. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
