To all the saltwater fly rod builders out there. What would be the choice of guide size and type for the Revo #10 ? Keeping in mind that I only want to use titanium and living in Australia so might be limited to some brands.
Double foot strippers then singles? Please enlighten me :) I'm a complete newbie to building a fly rod. I've been saving this build for a rainy day....Now has never been a better time. Self isolation and working from home is perfect for rod building lol Cheers Adam Re: CTS Revo #10 Build

If you can obtain the Batson Alps line of titanium guides, they would be my choice. Yes double foot strippers and single foot runners is the way I'd build it. 16 & 12 strippers #4 runners. Re: CTS Revo #10 Build

Adam,
I built a lot of REVO #10's Go with either Fuji TKWTG (Torzite) - or the new Fuji TKWSG-S ( the new slim SiC rings) - or - the new REC Cerecoil ceramic recoils (they look very sweet). In #20 and #16. Then use REC Recoil single foot RFSX # 6, #5, six #4's. Please email me - or unhide your email for more CTS and guide info. Herb U.S. CTS Distrib Re: CTS Revo #10 Build

The guide train comprises a much smaller percentage of the total weight of a 10wt. rod than a 5wt. rod, so the weight savings of single foot guides decrease as the rod "weight" increases. The occasional half hitch which fly lines take around single-foot guides [but not around snake guides] become a bigger problem as the size of hooked fish increase. Lots of trade -offs! You can also do it with Seaguide Ti framed guides. Great quality guides with good ring materials. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
