Suitable Replacement for Aftco Reel Seat

I have always used (even before building rods) Aftco reel seats for bigger saltwater rods. Since Aftco no longer produces slip-over reel seats, what is a strong enough seat for a 130lb tuna rod? I am not certain I want to go the Unibutt route. Mark Talmo FISHING IS NOT AN ESCAPE FROM LIFE BUT RATHER A DEEPER IMMERSION INTO IT!!! BUILDING YOUR OWN SIMPLY ENHANCES THE EXPERIENCE. While it certainly does not surprise me that Batson manufacturers a proper, quality seat for a 130 stand-up rod, I am surprised, if not disappointed, none of the other manufacturers apparently do. What gives? Mark Talmo FISHING IS NOT AN ESCAPE FROM LIFE BUT RATHER A DEEPER IMMERSION INTO IT!!! BUILDING YOUR OWN SIMPLY ENHANCES THE EXPERIENCE. Re: Suitable Replacement for Aftco Reel Seat

They don't make the Pac Bay AH-M anymore, or is it something else that's not right about them? Re: Suitable Replacement for Aftco Reel Seat

Most people like the convenience of a detachable butt, therefore the market for the large diameter slip-over seats has dwindles. Companies aren't going to make and offer components that there is very little market for.

Tom,
I suppose you may be correct = heavier offshore rods increasingly employing unibutts. Maybe I’ll give them a shot on my next big-boy build. For right now, Hello Batson, pleasure to meet ‘ya! Seaguide also makes a heavy duty reel seat. Not sure if it's what you want, but worth a look.
