6’9”or 6’10” skipping rod

Good evening all,

I am looking to build a new skipping rod for myself. I would like it to be 6’9” or 6’10” as the subject eludes to. This will be used for docs on Lake of the Ozarks. It will be a casting rod and needs to be a mh at a minimum, I am considering cutting 3 inches from a mb709
HM from Northfork any suggestions?

Thanks
Tom

Tom

I ordered a 6’9” Point Blank MH

Similar purpose

Fishing docks and tighter/ narrow creeks inshore

Hopefully it shows up next week

So far I’ve been very Impressed with the feel and balance of my other 2 PB

Benji, thanks for the suggestion, I did look at that one and I think it’s gonna be too light. My jigs are 1/2 oz without trailer and probably over 3/4 with the trailer.

The NFC MB709 HM has an intrinsic power of 941 gm with an AA of 66 which is listed as moderate fast. The PB691MHXF has an intrinsic power of 785 gm with an AA of 77 which is listed as XF. The Point Blank will easily handle 3/4 oz with no problem, so it plenty powerful. Cutting 3” off the MB709HM will slow the action, and decrease the power. The XF action of the PB is a plus for skipping baits, in addition the Point Blank is lighter. I also love the feel of all the Point Blanks I own.

Hello Thomas - Here are three choices from the MHX Elite Pro Series. The Elite Pro rod blanks are High Modulus blanks that are durable. Here are links to three models, a 6'-9" extra fast, med-hvy [www.mudhole.com] and a couple models of 6'-10" fast, med-hvy & hvy [www.mudhole.com] [www.mudhole.com] - These were designed with precise, close quarters casting in mind. Thank You

Since you are throwing a little heavier weight, I'd recommend our RainShadow Revelation REVS68MH - [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com]

We do have a REVS610MXF giving you that x-fast tip but it's pushing it weight wise a bit.
