This morning, while fishing, I noticed my black wrappings were gray. It was raining and the rods were wet. I used Pro Wrap size A with Flex Coat. I went out to the car just now and they're black again. What's going on please? Re: Color change.

I think you are getting moisture penetrating the wraps. I had that once and solved it with another coat of finish, after they were really dry, and making sure to get the ends closed off. Might be the issue, even if you think they are properly sealed now. Mine looked like they were, but the extra coat solved the issue. Re: Color change.

It also could have been Amine blush. See a previous thread on the subject. Re: Color change.

Amine Blush typically happens during the initial set and cure, not after curing.

Epoxy that takes on water turns white than clears up when dry. Re: Color change.

I have also noticed that after a rain while fishing the epoxy will get these hazy, whiteish water spots, but they disappear when dry. Some rods will do it but not all. I snagged a Rod once will fishing and noticed that all the wraps were hazy and whiteish. Threw it in the bottom of the boat, and the next day it was fine. I don’t think it is something terribly abnormal, it just happens, and it temporary.

Thanks guys it had me worried. I fished with the rods this morning and they were their normal glossy black. Norm, I used some more of the guides you sent me last year. My buddy lays his rods on his boat with the tips toward the bow and he steps on them. I've never seen him with under 12 rods up top. Re: Color change.

Yes those guides are not as durable as the Fuji K guides. Glad you are using them.
