I’ve got some holes in my set up and working on building my saltwater boat rods.
building several MHX Saltwater rods now. I’m building 2 of the L844 and 2 L905 And want to build another 2 -4 rods that are more powerful than the L905 There is nothing at all with any of those blanks. I’m very happy with them. And will add more over time as needed. I’m in NE Fl fish nearshore off the beaches for Cobia and tarpon Trip off the beach and around the Jetties The mhx sw70m has caught my eye. But not sure if that’s the one. Spinning reel 8000-14000 Shimano size is what I’m thinking. I’ll run something like a 5000 sized Stradic on the 844 then 6000 sized Saragossa on the 905’s I’ll also be down in the keys this summer and need to outfit the boat with rods Not looking to troll just anchor but and chum off the reef with the kids. I feel like the 905’s will be ideal here but never really fished down there a lot Mainly just want a complete set of spinning saltwater rods to handle anything i run into. Thanks for suggesting Re: Tarpon/ Keys/ Nearshore Rod Blank

Rodgeeks XC 804 or 805 will do what you want for teh larger spinners. [rodgeeks.com]
If 8' is too long, then look at the 734, 735, and 736 Re: Tarpon/ Keys/ Nearshore Rod Blank

Hello Benjie -- I pulled both the L905-MHX and SW70M-MHX from the bins and checked the tip flex and power for both rod blanks. There is a slight difference in the two. If you want something that is really going to provide a overall stiffer tip flex and more butt power, the SW70MH-MHX is just that. The L844-MHX and L905-MHX blanks that you have already chosen are proven winners as well. We Appreciate your Business!! I recently wrapped myself up a SW76MXF-MHX for a similar purpose. I fish a 8000 shimano spheros on there, and its been great so far. Nice tip with good pulling power. If looking to fish a bigger reel, step up in power though. Nice all around blanks for our fishery down here (miami/keys area).
The other blanks mentioned would be great for the yellowtail/mangroves on the reef. If you get into the bigger snapper, they will test those inshore blanks, and it is a blast. I would also recommend building a conventional set up for fishing the bottom. I prefer the united composite blanks, but the 20-60 MHX looks solid for this purpose. Lots of big black grouper/mutton snapper living on the reefs down here. Re: Tarpon/ Keys/ Nearshore Rod Blank

Thanks for the suggestions...
bob i really appreciate you taking the time to compare those blanks. i am very happy with the 905 and 844's that i have. as soon as i received my 905 i mocked it up and put in another order for a second blank, and i am sure i will end up with 4 total 844's. Great suggestion Chris and Billy, i did put in an order the rodgeeks xc734 ill see how i like it and probably build a bottom rod on it, then based on how it feels get either a 804 or 805 for a larger spinning set up. cant wait till July.
