I've been working on this for a little while in Excel, finally feel like I've gotten to a point where I can share it. I've created a database, accessible online, that has the following fields:
Brand, Item Number, Application/Suggested Use, Length, Length (in), Power, Action, Pieces, Line Weight, Lower Lure Weight, Upper Lure Weight, Butt (in), Tip size, Wt, and discontinued (They were available when I started, but are no longer available or are being phased out). I make no claims to the accuracy of this list. I've done my best to make sure it's accurate, but there are nearly 1,500 entries from different sources. I have removed most (hopefylly all) ice, fly, and surf rod blanks. Email me or reply here if you see anything that needs to be changed. Link is below. [www.obvibase.com] Re: Online Blank Database

Bookmarked, awesome resource Seth. Thank you!
Not at all a criticism just wishful thinking, but CCS info on all those blanks would be cool! Re: Online Blank Database

Actually! already came in handy. I have a co-worker looking for an UL backpacking blank. Up to now the shortest section length I've seen was 18.5". Using your database I saw that rodgeeks has a 4 piece 5'6" blank. Great stuff! Re: Online Blank Database

That looks like it took a long time to put together. You are an exceptional person to put that much work in something and then share it with the forum. I am just getting into rod building and can see the benefit of this spreadsheet. Thank you for all the work you put into this.

I've added a column for IP Grams and AA. Only populated the Point Blank so far, but I'll be working on it. Feel free to post any info you want added in here. Re: Online Blank Database

Seth, this is a great resource, and thank you for compiling it. One small note though- Rodgeeks blanks with an "XS" at the end stand for "extra sensitive", not extra slow. They are blanks with a very fine tip, but they are not slow actions.

Seth,
I don’t see any specs on vintage Conolon blanks! Joking aside, your contribution is an immense value to all rod builders. You have deservedly received praise and thanks from many on this site, including heavy-hitters such a Jim Ising. Allow me to personally and graciously thank you for the monumental effort and for those who fail to reply as well. EXELLENT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mark Talmo FISHING IS NOT AN ESCAPE FROM LIFE BUT RATHER A DEEPER IMMERSION INTO IT!!! BUILDING YOUR OWN SIMPLY ENHANCES THE EXPERIENCE. Re: Online Blank Database

A lot of this stuff was guess work, but I did the best I could to decipher from the the info I had. Sometimes that information was conflicting from source to source. Don't hesitate to point out anything I may have gotten wrong, you're not going to hurt my feelings. Re: Online Blank Database

Seth,
Anglers Workshop has their own line of blanks. Of interest most to me, they have a line of travel rods that are more Inshore/pier oriented then others. I think it would be valuable to add. [www.anglersworkshop.com] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
