Is the primary ring the largest ( and closest to the reel) or the smallest ring on the stripper guide of the Microwave 30 system? Jon Hood Re: Microwave primary ring

Largest ring is the stripper/choke combo ring and it is closest to the reel , after that is a transition guide and then the smallest guides are runners which go out toward the tip. I realize that - but there are 2 rings on the the stripper - is the largest one considered the primary or the second smaller one? Jon Hood Re: Microwave primary ring

Was away from the computer so sorry about the late response , like Roger said the largest ring but this name of "Primary" is a little confusing , primary meaning the largest ring faces the reel , i suppose you meant do people set it up with the smaller ring facing the reel , no it's never set up that way , that would be backwards. Herb,
No I was wanting to confirm the primary was the 1st ring for measurement pupose - I realize there is only about 1/2” difference in the 2 rings but I was curious which one was the ring to measure to from the spool lip for initial setup. No way would I consider turning the guide around - it would be facing downward! Jon Hood Re: Microwave primary ring

Do people use microwave stripping guides on casting rods to tame the vertical loops that come off a revolving spool - for distance casting, maybe? Re: Microwave primary ring

Good question Phil , i have asked about that myself because they do have quite a few Microwave systems purposely made for casting rods . American Tackle also has a stripper in the Microwave series built for fly rod usage . No feedback came in about it from the builders on the site which is unfortunate . Re: Microwave primary ring

I find the original spinning concept to be brilliant, the casting version somewhat less so. This is only my personal opinion, and I proudly serve in the Microwave Army although not exclusively. Re: Microwave primary ring

So it sounds like you may have tried the casting version , if so what were the pluses and minuses of it or is it just something you assume without having personal experience with it ? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
