In general, when wrapping a guide, do you start at the loop end and wrap on to the blank or start on the blank and wrap up to the loop? Re: Guide wrapping direction question

Start off the guide foot and wrap towards the ring. This is the best direction as you are wrapping uphill. Trying to do it the other way results in loose threads that have be constantly pushed back into place.

Tom is correct, very hard to wrap the guide going down hill . Going up hill, the thread will stop the wrap from falling of the guide , try ir on a guide an see how it works , only takes a min . to set it up , William Sidney AK Re: Guide wrapping direction question

Up hill also allows you to finish the wrap on single foot guides with blocking and locking wraps. Ray Zarychta Glastonbury, CT Re: Guide wrapping direction question

Ray,
I had a couple of special cases where I needed to wrap the guides down hill. So, I simply started with the locking wrap and then wrapped the rest of the guide. The locking wrap doesn't care if it is the first thing being wrapped or the last thing being wrapped. It is equally effective for either technique. Re: Guide wrapping direction question

It must have been fun, not sure my skill level could handle both wraps down hill or either I too lazy to try. Thanks for letting us know it can be done. Ray Zarychta Glastonbury, CT Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
