Hi everyone
Working on a "gunmetal" color CTS blank and am struggling to decide what color wrap to go with. I anticipated it to be more of a charcoal color and was going to use a dark red wrap but it has more brown and olive in it. I'm now leaning towards dark brown or black wraps with silver accents, but wanted to hear out some other ideas. I can't seem to figure out how to post a photo of the blank... Thanks! Everyone perceives color a wee bit differently, and you already know what you think might be attractive is not so much so on the rod. Fortunately thread is not prohibitively expensive. So, buy a half dozen spools of colors you think might work, make short test wraps where the reel seat or grip will be located, apply finish, and choose the one you like best. And if you don't want to mix epoxy or thin varnish for finish, just wet the wraps with alcohol. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/13/2018 05:01PM by Donald La Mar. Re: Help choosing colors

Any blank of gray, gunmetal, charcoal, black, charcoal, will look very handsome using candy apple red as the main thread, then accents of black and gold metallic. For accents in black the Pro Wrap metallic black is a great thread which holds well for nail knots and is intensely black. But as stated above, there are so many options that will look very good. If you don't understand the alcohol comment, you can put alcohol on test wraps to see approx what color it will be when epoxy without CP is applied. Wraps with regular thread without CP look generally darker and subdued and sometimes almost transparent, with CP the original color is retained. If you want wraps with visual "snap" you'll want to use CP with regular thread. CP = Color Preservative. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
