I am about to buy a 2nd casting reel in the $100-$200 price range. I have an abu garcia pro max, like it for the price for sure. At the moment I am looking for the curado k, the citica, the slx, the concept a, the inception, the lews inshore custom, the lews inshore fls, and the daiwa ct type r. I some questions. So far Im eying the lfs inshore a bit more. 1. What casting reels in this price range have yall found great in saltwater? 2. Have you had a problem with any of these reels? 3. Which of these should I purchase? I dont have much income, I am a 15 year old building rods and experimenting. I am trying casting reels and I have like my pmax so far. Re: Salt Water Casting Reels

I suggest you take a look at the Revo X inshore casting reel. Revos have a good reputation for casting well and this one has an 18# drag rating. Many casting reels only go to about 11 # on drag, and I think you want more for inshore. Check @#$%& for a seller with almost 100% satisfaction rating and and buy new, not used. Less than $100.
If you buy a reel designed for inshore it should have reasonable salt water corrosion performance and a good drag, but be sure to check the specs. But remember, just because it is rated for salt that does not mean it doesn't need rinsing with fresh water after each use. Same for the rod. Re: Salt Water Casting Reels

The Daiwa Sealine reels have been around a long time, and for a good reason. Google "shosh 30" for more opinions. My slosh 30 has been in use for 20 years and I live minutes from the beach. It has never missed a stroke. BTW - I put a 120 yard topshot of #30 nylon monofilament over a couple hundred yards of #30 gelspun braid, connected by a slim beauty knot. I seldom if ever get a backlash, but I would hate to ruin a day's fishing with a hopeless braid backlash. My mono topshot solves that problem and does not reduce casting distance one bit, and the braid backing gives me a chance to outlast the "Big One". Re: Salt Water Casting Reels

I like Shimano Curado K and 13 Fishing Concept A or Z.. These reels are in your price range and cast really well. I heavily fish saltwater and have had no problems with these. After you have had them a couple of years replace (not the Concept Z) the bearings with a good ceramic bearings like Boca bearings. Changing out the original bearings to ceramic bearings will make a difference in any reel and is a great improvement in performance. They make that old reel feel new again and actually cast farther than with the original new bearings. Re: Salt Water Casting Reels

1. In that price range (go to @#$%& for the best price):
Lew's Team Lew's LITE Speed Spool LFS Baitcast Reel Curado K 2. No. I don't particularly like the way the Lew's fits my hands, but others swear by it. 3. Go to a store and see which one you like holding better. Can't go wrong with either of them. Re: Salt Water Casting Reels

I am having great results with Akios reels. from "One More Cast", aka, Joe Moore in Avon, NC. 656csm is abu 6500 size, level wind. magnetic brakes and super SMOOTH drag. I have retired all my Abu's that even were converted to magnetic brakes. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
