Spining a rod

I have read different opinions on whether spining a rod is necessary or is building it on the straightest axis the way to go? Re: Spining a rod

Josh,
I build on the straightest axis, but I also double check to verify the spine of the rod. If possible I do both. i.e. build on the spine if it is also the straightest axis. Good luck Re: Spining a rod
