Been looking at some different factory rods to get an idea on different handle designs for my custom rods and looked at a rod that had sea-guide reel seats on them. They looked ok but up until a few months ago, i have never heard of them. How would they compare to say fugi seats? Actually the rods that i looked at were fenwick HMG rods. Thanks, Roger Re: Reel seat ?

A reel seat is a reel seat, poorly designed products don't survive out there. I've had no problems with the few I've used. In today's world it is completely possible they are supplying the components to other suppliers for years that you have used and are happy with and you just don't know it. Re: Reel seat ?

I have not used, but have held both the Seaguide alien spinning and casting reel seats. They appear to be very good reel seats. They do require an insert, and I think both the Fuji and Seaguide inserts will work. Both Janns Netcraft and Anglers Workshop sell them.

Light-duty and most freshwater reel seats face a whole lot more abuse from owners than damage from fish. Re: Reel seat ?
