Try it, won't take long to find out if epoxy works with it. doesn't necessarily have to be wrapped on a rod, a stick, or dowel will also work for a test wrap. Re: Thread

lee,
The good thing about Sunguard poly thread is that it is quite impervious to the harmful UV rays of the sun. Give it a try on some test wraps, including the application of finish and see how it works for you. Best of luck What is the thickness of the thread that you are planning on using? Be safe Re: Thread

Sounds like it is heavy duty stuff to me. Like everyone said just try it on a piece of scrap and see how it looks when finished. If you are planning on wrapping rods then buy some bonafide rod wrapping thread. It is not that expensive, and you’ll know it works. If you are going to do it, do it right.

Lee,
I have some of the similar thread that I use for upholstery work as well. I have it is sizes of 69, 92 and 138. I believe that the thinnest - size 69 is about the size of thread wrapping thread size D. Then, the size 92 and 138 are heavier yet. No question about it, this thread would be strong enough to wrap the heaviest rods that you might want to build: [www.superiorthreads.com] Re: Thread

I tried the sunguard thread and it seems to work just fine. I did a one color butt in red It looks as good as any other thread. I think the last time i picked up some it was $12 for a 1000 yrds. If any of you want to try it do a test run first. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
