I have a set of forecast reamers but I need larger ones because I am building a shark rod and it is like an inch wide. What is available to ream out a piece of eva that large? Re: Reamers for extra large rods.

I used a trash can blank or really inexpensive offshore blank. Or if you can find an old fishing rod or junk blank that's the right diameter. I made An Arbor and against a steel rod to go in the butt section so I could attach it to my drill. Then I used Flex coats reamer abrasive and some contact cement in order to attach the reamer paper to the blank. Flex coat has a video on their website on making cork reamers. I go to a spot where guys who rest their fish poles over the truck's tailgate fish and pick broken rods out of the trash. Then I buy a sandpaper belt for a belt sander and cut it into 1 1/2" strips, coat the cloth backing with contact cement, coat a 2' - 3' piece of the broken rod with contact cement, let both dry to the touch, and wrap the strip of sandpaper belt in an open spiral (1" gap) around the blank and press the sandpaper strip tight to the contact cement coated rod blank. A broken 7' rod will provide 3 segments of different diameters, and one sanding belt will provide enough abrasive for 4-5 reamers. Re: Reamers for extra large rods.

I make beach / surf fishing rods and buy the EVA all the way to Ø1.50 Inside Diameters if you're interested. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
