Permagloss was never "heat activated." It has always cured by exposure to moisture.

So Tom do you have any tips on how to get Permagloss to dry faster because I remember Permagloss drying super fast hard but for some reason mine will not and I have ordered new stuff from both Mud Hole and Acid Rod and I still have this problem and I live in Oregon so would think that moisture in the air would be no problem so do you have any idea of what might be wrong. Air is generally less humid in the winter. Try putting a tea kettle on your stove and letting it steam the air a bit. That was the trick that Ralph O'Quinn, who developed PermaGloss, used to advise for low humidity conditions.

Never had problems with Permagloss not curing within a very short time. If you have tried different batches and still have the same problem, then you may have some sort of contamination problem, either on what you are trying to coat, or with the applicator you are using. I never use Permagloss directly from its container, I pour what I need in to a small container and apply very thin coats. A thick coat does take a little longer to cure, but with a thin coat you should be able to apply a second coat within a half hour or so.

Generally, if a person has a problem with PermaGloss is that it cures too quickly. I have never heard of PermaGloss that wouldn't set up, except maybe when put over an oily wood. In that case, nothing tends to set. I'm assuming that the poster is talking about thread wraps in this case, however.

What is the application? I use it a lot and have never had a slow curing issue. As mentioned above it may be that your applying it too heavily. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
