Hi, I'm looking for a kokanne blank recommendation in the with a 4 to 10 pound range to be used on a downrigger. In the NW we mostly use a casting reel with a line counter to fish with a 50' to 60' setback and down to 60' feet or so.

Check out the Rain Shadow / Batson blanks in the Graphite /Fiberglass version of the Kakanne blank in the action, power and length that you wish to use: It is good to have fiberglass in the blank for the bends that a down rigger rod is subject to on a daily basis.
[www.rainshadowrodblanks.com] A longer rod for a downrigger application is more convenient to use if it is a 2-piece blank. Good luck Re: Kokanne rod blank recommendations

The RainShadow RDR series that Roger links to is what we use for Kokanee trolling out here on the Olympic Peninsula. Karry Batson personally uses and recommends the RDR710L – but any of them will work. The RDR series looks like the ticket. Wish the longer 2 piece blanks came in a lighter line weight, say 4 to 10 lbs. The fish we catch in the central Oregon lakes are in the 14" to 16" range.

You could ask Batson's about the DSS series. Check with Utmost Enterprises, they carry all the Rainshadow line up. Re: Kokanne rod blank recommendations

The RDR on that page is the only one that fits his needs, price could certainly be beat. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
