I lnow that G loomis no longer sells rod blanks. Does anyone have any G Loomis blanks they want to sell? What company makes a blank that is equivelent to a G Loomis. I am looking for a blank equivelent to the Mahogony 731. Re: G Loomis rod blanks

Maxie,
Gary has a new company, north fork composites. Get with them and they will steer you straight. Re: G Loomis rod blanks

Maxi,
The mohogany blanks are GL3, they come in a variety of colors. North Fork's SM, or IM material will be what your looking for. Re: G Loomis rod blanks

Mr. Glover,
In my opinion the MHX Blanks designed by my good friend, Todd Vivian at Mud Hole Custom Tackle are second to none. They are tough, durable, light weight, and very sensitive and fishing these blanks is amazing. The good Loomis Blanks are history and have been for a long time. The now Pro Elite Series MHX's are awesome to fish with, Durability, Light Weight, Small Diameter, Sensitivity are great to have in your hand when doing battle with MR. BASS. I have fished the MHX'S since 2008, 2010 they were improved, and 2015 there were improved again thanks to the new patterns ,materials, and technology to become some of the best on the market today and are being improved as I type this. With that many improvements they must be pretty well perfect by now. :-)
I think any of the top of the line top brands (Rainshadow/Point Blank/Quickline,St. Croix) are the equivalent to the old Loomis blanks. I have an AmTak Bushido light crank blank (now rod) that tests the same on CCS as the Old Loomis light crank, is the same weight, feels the same or better (sensitivity - but the Bushido has micros, unlike the Loomis). Its price at Mudhole is less than $70. I am not experienced with the MHX, having built only a few for charity, so never fished them. Re: G Loomis rod blanks

Terry,
Why wouldn't they still be in production? They just came out with new fly blanks and the Delta series gear blanks. Re: G Loomis rod blanks

Their site is gone and I couldn't get redirected, it kept taking me to a bankruptcy filing. Must be a glitch somewhere. I really like their light blanks almost akin to the old Shikari's. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/05/2017 07:03PM by Terry Kirk. Re: G Loomis rod blanks

I agree with Lewis Morgan. I love the MHX Rods I have built plenty of them for a guy that use to fish nothing but G Loomis. He got rid of his G Loomis rods and went all MHX Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
