I'm in South Florida. I see these specific style of rod typically targeting snook on piers.
My cousin wants me to build one for him, and I don't know much info about these style of rods. I don't think he does either.... From what I see on social media are they are pretty long and have long rear grips to put under the armpit. He will be using a Saltist 5000 (not sure what specific line). He told me a rod that is 20-50#. 8 foot. He will be tossing mullet. Most likely won't be using EVA as grips. He likes the rope grip or shrink tubing over the rope. I'd like to be able to purchase it from Mudhole. Some ideas for the rod: Calstar BTG690J 9'0" | 20-50 lb. | Mod-Fast Action | 1 Piece | 9.0 Tip | 0.98 Butt Might cut down to 8 feet. Lamiglas TLP961MH 8'0" | 15-40 lb. | 1 - 3 oz. | 1 Piece | 9.0 Tip | 0.78 Butt Re: Need blank suggestion for one of those "snook" pier rods

Pier rods can get some pretty rough treatment. With that said I would get the Calstar BT690J. Unless of course you really want to go with the composite blank you chose. If you decide to go with a 9' blank, have them trim the blank from the butt to fit the shipping requirements. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
