Hi all. I am building a 15-30 swimbait rod 7'11". I am trying to use a K-R 30h, 20, 16, and a bunch of 10s. I don't want to go smaller so it can pass knots easily. Anyway, I want to eliminate the 16 and just go 30-20-10-10-10 etc. every thing I see though has a stripper and two reduction guides. Is it ok to only use one reduction guide? Yes you can do that but you might want to do a test cast with both setups and see if the elimination of the 16 works the way you want ,
are you using floral carbon or braid if it is either of those you could eliminate the 30 and keep the 16 or you could try this 25 16 10>>>>> 10 The best day to be alive is always tomorrow !! Think out side the box when all else fails !!! Wi. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/05/2017 02:19PM by Matthew Paul. Re: New concept guide system question

Mike,
It will work great. Go for it. If you like, you could use a size 30 and then all 10s if you like as well. Doubtful that there would be much difference than what you propose. Good luck Re: New concept guide system question

Do what you can do and don't worry about adhering to any prescribed number or size of guides. If it works, it works. Just make sure to test cast and retrieve it a bit to be sure it'll do what you want. Any time you can eliminate one larger guide in favor of a smaller/lighter guide, without undermining casting or usability performance, you're going to have a better rod.
