A picture is worth a thousand words or so it is said why not take photos of new items like the dryer and post them to a free site then come back here and post where you placed the item, gives everyone an idea of what the device looks like, could also use for new guides etc John Re: Idea for vendors

Or they could just put them on their own websites and we could see them there. The links are already here. Re: Idea for vendors

Could be a good idea John, espcially for some better images of what some would like to see? We often can't update the stuff on our websites or make it appear more than in a commercial sense. The picture may be more with a life-like view? Where would the free site be and how to access it directly from here, and then easily return? good point. Rich Richard's Rod & Reel Re: Idea for vendors

You can post photos for a short time on the moment of fame board under fishing just copy the url and paste here on your post, photos should be removed in a reasonable ammount of time, there are also other sites that will allow you to post photos for free provided no one goes overboard and tries to take advantage. Sully, I'll have to agree with you on the website and updating. I also am 'guilty as charged' with upkeeping the website, but when some unfinished categories are completed we'll make it relevant for the '23rd' century. Some ideas with internet are interesting and some are passing fads as well. The web cam idea may come and stay, or will be replaced by yet the next wave into the 24th century. We have no way of predicting this. One thing for certain is the print medium won't want to go away anytime soon and that is one reason we went the route of a current pricing catalog that we've just released. It may not be the most colorful or prettiest, but it does present what rod builders need and we can provide further input as they require. There are two reasons we felt it primary to print a catalogue and for a 'relevant' time. One is that it is in your hand for easy browsing. and another is for reference at another time you may wish to look up and order. Prices are current, but one can easily inquiry if changes are required for various supplier or manufacturer reasons. A good supplier also will have available information about products that may be stocked but not described in the catalog and help in this way. You are right. It is a ton of work and requires further investment. Often it's also a good idea to pass on some savings to customers by limiting a bit with some of the trendiness. I would love to 'do it all', but I admit to filtering through what we feel is a solid base of rodbuilders needs and supplement as necessary. Tom, I've often thought of an idea to have a video 'tour' through our physical store location (without our ugly mugs, of course) and show some idea of what we stock. The 'instructionals' by visuals is excellent, if we can capture our audience attention long enough. An interesting concept. Technology, but also the good ole print tradition will hold fast for rod building interests. Rich Richard's Rod & Reel Re: Mud Hole Rod Building Web Cam

Strange as it may seem Rich is 100% correct re a printed catalog, there is still a vast segement of the population who neither have nor want a computer and prefer to use printed catalogs, where the computer shines is having the ability to post current sales and items in limited supply for fast sales, there is also the problem that most dealers can't maintain a current web site as it takes a hugh amount of time and effort to keep them up to date most need to have someone do it for them which means additional fees translated to possible higher cost of the components sold, I do agree some effort should be made to keep the prices posted correct,Tom has been on the cutting edge with his updated web page and I hope he continues to maintain it,and speaking of Tom and the Mudhole his new catalog is now on line, hopefully the prices are correct, good job Tom John Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
