What is your favorite Eternity II wrap color scheme?

For the cobalt color, what is your favorite wrap color scheme? I've just done one, and used a dark blue w/o CP + Pro Wrap pearl metallic trim, the blue turning out a darker shade of the cobalt, and it looks good. Got an idea for another that you like?

Michael,

I love the dark blue on the ETC II blanks; but blue fade worst than any other color.

Mick, I used a sapphire blue Madeira thread and it blended perfectly with the blank. I then trimmed it in silver. Great looking blanks and the rod looked pretty snazzy if I say so myself. Lol

Michael, I use CP on all of my rods. I just finished building an Eternity2 9 ft fly rod. When I received my blank, I was quite surprised at the brightness. I sent an e-mail to Batson Enterprises and asked them what colors they used. They told me they didn't know what their test models had on them. So I was on my own and i tried quite a few combinations. I was a little bit surprised when I tried the red/black color twist thread. As a result I used red/black Classic 2 color twist thread and I trimmed it with a teal color that is the color of ocean water close to shore. While the colors I listed above might appear to not work well, I found they look quite well on the rod. I buy color twist thread from Thread Art who makes embroidery polyester thread in a variety of colors in what appears to be size A.

While I recognize many people don't like color twist thread and also don't like bright color combinations, but for those of us that do, they may find my color combination quite nice. Good luck in your search.

Sincerely,

Mike Blomme

Jared, with CP I presume?

Don, Yes, I know blue fades. The rod I did has been in the boat for three one week tropic trips, and still looks good. That's about 18 days, not always in direct sun (in boat rack on inside lower part of boat).

I was hoping to get some other colors that would not be as susceptible to fade as blue, yet looked good with the cobalt blank.

thanks

I was under the impression that it was metallic blue thread that faded quickly. Is this also true for blue nylon?

Lynn, you may be right. Hope so. But, with many items that are outside, like flags, signs, etc, if I see fading, it is always worse on the blue.

Lynn & Michael,

Yes, it was ProWrap metallic blue that turned a light purple in just over a year, (just on the side facing the sun when it's on the deck of my boat). The rod is an 8' St Croix SCIV flipping stick that looked out standing until it faded. I rewrapped it with dark blue color fast thread and it seems to be holding up much better.

It's not with the wrap but the diawa coastal tws baitcaster reel matches with the blank almost perfectly and makes a great combo

Practically any of the darker blues (without CP) with silver trims look great on this blank.

I like Fuji #11 brown with Prowrap #716 teak. That combo also works well with Immortal blanks. Ive used it both ways; with brown as main color and teak inlays and trims; and inverted.
