I know most everyone does do a ferrule wrap but I was wondering if just a band of epoxy would not serve the same purpose ? I really don't in my particular circumstance think a thread wrap will look all that great. Thoughts ? Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 02/23/2017 09:44PM by Reggie Caudill. Re: Ferrule wrap

If I don't wan the ferrule wrap to show I will do wrap with nylon tread in the same color as the blank and finish without CP. Re: Ferrule wrap

Epoxy won't give you any strength. Re: Ferrule wrap

you can use clear mono sewing thread and finish it with regular finish or wrap it in black if that is the color of the blank The best day to be alive is always tomorrow !! Think out side the box when all else fails !!! Wi. Re: Ferrule wrap

Most of today's two/multiple piece rods do not require a ferrule wrap and warranties are not voided if you don't use one. Most people do a a ferrule wrap because of the extra security/insurance it provides. If you do not want to do a ferrule wrap then don't do one. If you want the extra security of a wrap then use either a thread that will match the blank, or a white silk thread that will disappear when finished. Just a coat of epoxy finish will do nothing to reinforce the ferrule.

Some companies like Sage still recommend them, I believe NFC still asked for a 1/4 inch band at least. Re: Ferrule wrap

I will concure with using white thread, black thread for a black blank, or a very short wrap for insurance. You don't have to use a contrasting color to do the ferrule wrap. I even tend to do a clear/black wrap on the bumper guides when I do a spiral wrap...just so it doesn't stick out too much to the eye. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
