Hi, I'm looking to build a rod for shark fishing in south east Florida. I'll be fishing from the beach and inlet mostly catching bull, black tip, hammerhead and nurse type sharks. So far the blank I'm looking at is the gator blanks shark rod blank. Specs are 10'0" | 80-130 lb. | Slow Action | 2X Heavy Power | 1 Piece | 28.0 Tip | 1.3 Butt | Black Spiral Finish.
Are there any other blanks that you guys would suggest I take a look at? This rod will only be fished from shore and only used for shark. Thanks for anything you guys can suggest. Re: Shark rod suggestions

I surf fish with bait for sharks in east central Florida. One size does not fit all. You do NOT need or want a rod as heavy as you specify if your target is black tip or spinners. Bulls and hammerheads are a new ball game. Re: Shark rod suggestions

I asked my brother what he will use it for, and he said targets will be bulls and hammers as big as he can get. The black tips and spinners will be bycatches. The only problem I'm having now is finding the components that will fit it. Thanks! Re: Shark rod suggestions

You do NOT want a ten foot rod long rod to fight sharks weighing over 200 pounds. Leverage, you know. Re: Shark rod suggestions

Yeah I figured that and now going with a 6' unlimited blank instead. It seems to be easier to find stuff that fits the 6' blank too. Thanks, I appreciate the help very much. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
