Hi everybody!
I have read all of Dr Hannemans articles at the infopage about the common cents system. I plan to measure some fly rods this weekend, but from the text in this [www.common-cents.info] I cannot determine how far the tip of the rod should be depressed when measuring CCF. All that is stated is (under the heading Determination of CCF) is: 'Depress and quickly release the rod tip to start it oscillating up and down' Help on this is greatly appreciated. Just far enough to get it oscillating for at least one minute. If it slows significantly before 20 seconds is up you'll get an incorrect reading.
Try several different offsets and you should see that the count doesn't vary by much. Re: Determination of CCF

Frequency is not dependent on nor does it rely upon a specific deflection distance. But yes, you need to deflect far enough that you have enough time to get a correct reading.

Thanks! I will try different offsets just for fun! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
