I just got my Renezetti laser alignment tool. When aligning and wrapping guides do most of you begin with the tip top or the butt. I usually start with the first butt guide and thought starting at the tip might make for easier alignment with the laser. Just wondering which way works best. THANKS Re: guide wrapping

Most of the time it doesn't matter. However, on rods with large guides you may wish to wrap the tip guides first to keep from having to rotate any large guides that will throw the rod out of balance while wrapping the remaining guides. Normally I will align my rod using the indexing feature on the headstock. Lock it in at the 0-degree axis. Now you can tape on and wrap one guide at a time and by returning to the 0-degree axis you can return to the top any time you wish and add the next guide. By starting at the tip and working back, you are reducing the time you spend wrapping with an out of balanced rod caused by those large butt guides. This is more noticeable on heavy trolling or surf rods. The Laser Tool is great, but make sure you spend enough time getting it and your machine properly aligned to begin with. Because you don't have to remove it, or change its position to use it, once it's set, you never have to fool with it again. .................. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
