Might any of you gentlemen have any suggestion or ideas for carbon fiber that might come in a roll that would be 1/2" wide in variable lengths? Since I can no longer get the handles I want from Northfork, I will do as those who have a need for an item have done for many years.... make it yourself. Yes, I know that this will have a heck of a learning curve but honestly who cares, I've got the time and I am sure that I can figure it out.
Thanks Tom Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/14/2016 05:28PM by Thomas Kaufmann. Re: carbon fiber

Tommy, You might want to get in touch with St.Croix or other rod manufacturers and see if you can get their trim scrap, if there is any, when they create the flag before it goes on the mandrel. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: carbon fiber

Try Soller composites, they make all kinds of composite fibers in sheets, tape and sleeves.

Soller composites as mentioned above is the most comprehensive list of products and extremely reasonable pricing for small batch orders Re: carbon fiber

Tow, Tape, and Yarn are the more common terms. Don Becker Re: carbon fiber

Thank you all very much. I suspect this may get pretty elaborate but the heck with it, I think that it will be worth it in the long run. Re: carbon fiber

Thomas, haven't bought any outside of Angler's Workshop when they had it. The regular stuff I've bought on sale from the sponsors and some from sellers on line, the last being a company who sells to kite builders and hobbists, can't remember the name of the company, I bought enough last time that I haven't bought any in years. Anyone searching for carbon fiber handle-making materials who has not checked out Riley Rods is missing great information and materials. Re: carbon fiber
