I recognize that within this addictive pastime of Rod Building there are multiple methods and materials at our disposal.
I have chosen primarily the use of FC products. When applying multiple coats of preserver on a guide wrap, weave, cross-wrap or tiger what is a recommended time frame or condition between coats? A time frame or condition when applying multiple coats of finish on guide wrap, weave, cross-wrap or tiger? I’m in the sunshine state of FL so I can adjust for humidity & temp. Guess I’m asking for generic timelines or comments. Thanks-n-advance Re: Time Frames

Humidity won't affect epoxy set or cure times. Temperature will. Generally you can apply another application of an epoxy once the previous coat is set beyond the stage where it will sag or run.

I usually allow CP to set up for about 2 hours Re: Time Frames

If your talking {color preserver} on weaves, cross-wraps or tiger wraps were there is {more than one layer of thread} - multiple layers , I give them at least overnight or 24 hrs, To fully dry, That is not a solvent base, It's waterborne base, I have been bitten before with moisture under my finish leaving a funky cloudy appearance that never went away, Or set-up a heat lamp, Just my opinion, As far as epoxy as Tom explained. Better off over night to be safe Like Jay said if not completely dry you will get a cloudy look Bill - willierods.com Re: Time Frames

I've been bitten by the cloud, so I let it set longer. First coat goes on, gets warmed up by an infrared heat lamp until the white is gone. Second coat goes on an hour later, gets the heat lamp treatment then sets overnight. If I put the second coat on at noon, epoxy does not get applied until noon the next day. Following this time frame, I've not had the cloud come back to haunt me. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
