Color preserver... I've never tried Cason's SOLVENT based, but I've heard a few good reviews.
This water based fruit juice doesn't work. The old solvent base One I have is one coat and done but it's
Old and getting thick.
Any recommendations on the Cason's brand or other solvent base?

Just forget about the "exotics" and use Flex Coat. IT WORKS. Two coats to be sure and you're done, and there is never a doubt with it. Just because it is white in the bottle means nothing. You will not find a brighter look with anything else. And, as I said before, it is reliable.

Todd,
Ever think about forgetting about the use of color preserver and going with the look that you get on thread with no preserver?

Millions of rods every year are built with no thread preserver and make the owners very happy.

But, as always, it is your choice as the builder to use the items needed for the look that you wish to achieve with a particular build.

Take a look at the American Tackle Acrylic CP.... it has a large following.... I believe Sunrise, Rod Components USA and Bingham all have it in stock.

I appreciate the responses, my question is not being answered though.
Cason's SOLVENT base CP review or recommendations of another SOLVENT base.

Not likely to find another solvent based CP. Shipping requirements, among other things, have killed most of those off.

I am not aware of Cason's is still made or not.

Why don't they carry Cason's then?
I don't care who bought them

Because Cason's, I think, is no longer in the business of making CP.

Guess I'll change it to Paquin's (long A, Pay-Quinn) and develop a quality color preserver that old timers will be proud of and newbies amazed by.

Mailing or shipping any product that contains a flammable solvent through either through the USPS, FedX or UPS will require an extra surcharge of from $10 to $35 and cannot be shipped by air. Failure to disclose that it has a flammable solvent in it is punishable by fine or worse.I have never used anything other than a water based CP so cannot say if the harsher solvent based types were better or not, but I think the newer mailing and shipping regulations do not bode well for the future of such products.

Ken That's not necessarily true. It just has to ship ground only, And is marked on the box as ORM-D I order all kinds of solvents online, with {no extra charge}, It just may take longer to receive do to ground shipping only. I am currently repainting an old truck a 1994 dodge ram that I use to pull my boat, The factory clear coat has failed on it and peeling off in sheets this was very common problem with this year Dodge truck, The truck only has 80,000 miles on it with a 318 motor that should run to 200,000 easy. I ordered all my urethane paints, solvents, and clear coat online due to the savings. Just waiting for a cool down so I can get her sprayed, I also order my loaded shooting ammo online with no extra charge, even free shipping. The only Thing I have had to pay extra shipping on is. Orders of Bulk Gunpowder and primers I use for reloading my shot shells, I am a member of a sportsmen's club and try to shoot trap and or skeet on a Bi weekly basis. Also my sportsmen's club is a Great outlet for selling my custom rods and getting exposure for my services. Jaa
