I have two mandrels a 3/8" and 5/16" and can turn grips with holes up to an inch or better if needed. If you have a lathe and some scrap wood laying around you can drill a hole to correspond to the mandrel , mount the scraps on the mandrel and turn the outside diameter to what ever size you need. I usually make the bushings what ever length needed as well so the whole grip is supported as well. The nice thing about this method is you can actually make the hole 2 different sizes if needed to account for the taper of the blank as well.
Edit: should have looked closer to the post, you don't have threaded ends on your mandrels, this makes bushings quite a bit harder to use. With threaded ends you can put some friction on the parts to keep them from turning on the mandrel. This may be problematic on your particular mandrels. Edited 1 time(s). 1. where do you get threaded on the ends mandrels? other than allthread or pen making mandrels.
2. if i'm reading this right, if i am making a grip with 12 cork rings, i would need to make 12 bushings? Re: mandrels
