Vented Salt Water Fly Reel Seat?

Hi everyone,
im building another 9ft 9wt salt water fly rod. This ones for me. I like the look of the vented fly reel seats from Alps but there seems to be some reel wobble with those according to some reviews here. I was hoping some folks could share their experience using vented seats and which ones they like best. Ideally I'd like it be on the light side.

Many Thanks!!

Chris

A particular reel not perfectly fitting a particular seat is not uncommon; I have some reels that don't fit some seats as well as others. I've had good luck with most of the Alps seats I've used. A larger concern for me would be the use of a vented seat on a saltwater rod. The more nooks/crannies for salt to collect in will only cause issues in the long run. I'm very careful cleaning my gear after use in the salt, but find that the more "complicated" the seat, the more problems I seem to have with corrosion and anodising degradation.
One Alps seat I've had very good luck with is the triangle model. Great anodising, strong, and still a bit of flair with the shape.

I second Bryan's thoughts.

Aesthetics are second to function and corrosion considerations for the salt.

Thank you for your thoughts. I've been eyeing the Alps Triangle. I hope it mates well with my Battenkill.

I just mounted an older battenkill LA 9/10 to one of my rods with the triangle seat.......no slop, fits tight.
Good luck with your build

Hey that's the same reel I'm using on it. Thanks for thoughts! I'm thinking about going with the cobolt tri on the eternity2 blank, or black.
