Hey folks. 1st timer to the forum. Tons of stellar information on this board. I like it!
I'm needing a blank dedicated to throwing 4 and 5 inch Keitech paddle tails on quarter ounce swimbait jig heads. Rocky terrain open water for smallmouth up to 5 pounds. I've narrowed it down to the Nfc Im blanks above. Currently I'm using a rod built on a Rainshadow popping blank, Xp844. It does a fine job, but I want to use it for my dedicated cranking stick. The power is about right, but the action is a tad slow. I prefer a blank with a fastish tip, not overly fast, that has a good flex under load. That's why I'm looking at the more progressive Nfc blanks. I like to think this helps keep those maniac smallmouth buttoned up. Looking at CCS numbers and Rda data, less than 10 grams of power separate these two blanks. However the 705 is few degrees slower. That being said I'm leaning towards the 705, but would appreciate some user feedback. I doubt the total weight of jig and plastic will ever exceed a half ounce, and this will always be a horizontal presentation, no jigging. Just need to make sure I have enough power to get solid hook sets. I had an Mhx high mod sj843 I was going to use for this technique, but it was way more blank than I prefer. Too fast, and too powerful. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
