Hello all,
I am getting back into the game of building rods for myself and a few friends. I came across this picture from wylierods recently and I have tried to contact him with no success. I did read in one of his posts that he was no longer in business. What I am interested in are these black plastic (maybe metal) caps or rings that slip over a common skateboard bearing. I am guessing there is enough of a V groove to allow a rubber O ring to slipped on. Anyone know the name of this item or where I can find and purchase this item? I have been searching for hours on the internet. Thank you!! [www.rodbuilding.org] Re: Skateboard bearing O ring caps?

Richardo,
I believe that he moved due to the change in the economy from his Idaho address. Several years ago, I did a swap with him for some rubber O rings on the outside of the skate board bearings for a rod wrapper motor. It has been long enough so that the rubber is beginning to get cracked. Actually, it is a skate board bearing. On the outside of the bearing is an O ring that is flat on the back side with a groove on the front side. Then, an additional O ring is placed in the groove on the inner O ring. I have actually looked every where for a replacement that I will be needing soon. I think that I am going to be putting on square O rings on the skate board bearings. The Square O rings are flat on the bottom on the top and on the sides. When you get the right size O rings, the rings will be a nice snug fit on the bearing with a nice cushioned rubber surface on the top . Similar to this: [www.amazon.com] However, if one searches the internet, one might be able to find a similar ring for less money than the $3 each wanted for this one. Be safe Edited 1 time(s). Richardo,
Another possibility is the use of a Quad ring - or a 4 sided O ring on the out side of the ball bearing. [www.mnrubber.com] [www.rocketseals.com] Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
