If I were doing it, I would likely use an epoxy for this joint. Another good option is Gorilla glue, but it can be tough to clean up the excess glue. Be safe Re: Deer antlers

Bill one thing I would stress is wear a respirator if you plan on turning the antler, that dust can be a killer Re: Deer antlers

I've used epoxy for just such a glue up. Also to second John's post about the dust. I keep a squeeze bottle of water handy and try to keep the antler wet when turning. It cuts way down on the dust. Think of going to the dentist and getting a cavity drilled. You just have to remember to wipe everyting down well when you are done to prevent rust.
