I'm restoring a bamboo saltwater boat Rod. I'm going to double wrap the guides. I'll use color preserver. My question is do I put the finish on the under wrap and let it cure before wrapping the guide and finishing that wrap or can I finish after everything is in place? I'm using U-40 one part finish. I assume you mean you're using PermaGloss.
You can do it either way. You may find it easier to wrap the guide on if you apply a coat of the PG to the underwrap first. ................... Re: Wrap finish question

Martin, are you new at this? And are you using a over a or d over a? I'm new to this and had some trouble doing a over a without finishing the under wrap. If you're a seasoned wrapper, it may not be an issue. D over a is not as tricky for me. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/07/2016 09:03PM by Randy Weakley. Re: Wrap finish question

Do the Permagloss on the under wrap
It will make life a lot easier when wrapping the over a good hard coat and no thread falling into the under if you wrap with a good pressure Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
